EC issues election schedule for 48 vacant seats of Senate

ISLAMABAD (Online): Election Commission (EC) has issued election schedule of 48 seats of Senate.

EC will start receiving nomination papers from today (March 15) Voting till take place on April 2.

The nomination papers cane be filed on March 15 and 16. The initial list of candidates will be put to display on March 17. The scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on March 19 and voting will  take place on April 02.

As per election schedule the appeals against acceptance or rejection of nomination papers can be filed till March 21. Decision on appeal will be announced on March 25.

The  revised list of the candidates will be published on March 26.  The nomination papers can be withdrawn till March 27.

Polling for Senate seats will be held at 5 sites.

For two seats of Islamabad, members of national assembly will exercise their right to vote in parliament house.

Provincial assemblies Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan and KP have been given status of polling station.  The election of 12 seats each of Punjab and Sindh, 11 seats each for KP and Balochistan and 2 seats for Islamabad will take place  therein.

The Senate seats will stand  reduced from  100 to 96 after April 2 election.
