Polio virus resurfaces in Balochistan after three years
QUETTA (6AM Report): The first case of polio has been reported from Balochistan since January 2021.
The sources of Emergency Operation Center (EOC) for Polio Eradication, the polio virus was detected in the infant aged 2.5 years belonging to Dera Bugti.
The samples were taken from the child had been collected on February 22, 2024.

This is also the first case of polio reported in Pakistan including Balochistan in the year 2024.
The last case of polio had been reported three years back from Kila Abdullah.
The polio virus was found in the environmental sample of the province since August 2023.
In view of the prevalence of polio virus, a special polio immunization is scheduled to be launched in nine districts of the province from March 24, 2024.
