Balochistan’s seven districts affected badly during heavy rains, spokesman of GoB

QUETTA (6 AM Report): The spokesman, Government of Balochistan, Shahid Rind has stated that seven districts of the province have been badly affected due to recent rains. The districts affected due to the heavy rains are included: Quetta, Pishin, Killa Abdullah, Chaman, Chaghai, Kech and Gwadar.

He said that seven people were reportedly killed in different incidents of lightening and roof collapse in the province.

Five of them lost their lives due to lightening in different areas of the province while two died due to collapse of roofs.

However, the rescue and relief activities are continued in the rain affected districts of the province including Quetta, the work of assessment of losses would be started after relief operation.

These and similar other details were shared by the spokesman of provincial government while briefing the media persons about the situation of rains and relief activities here at the office of PDMA on Monday.

The members of provincial assembly belonging to Quetta including Wali Muhammad Noorzai, Bakht Muhammad Kakar, Malik Naeem Ahmed Bazai and Liaquat Lehri were also present on the occasion.

The spokesman of provincial government maintained that schools were closed for two days following the situation of rains all over the province.

Moreover, the leaves of all concerned officers and staff have also been cancelled, he added.

He said that the response is being given on the public complaints after rains. Similarly, action is also being taken against encroachments established on the nullahs in Quetta, he added.

He said that the rescue activities were started in the rain hit areas at first, and later the rehabilitation activities would be carried out afterwards.

He said while the assessment of losses caused due to the rains is being made in Quetta besides other districts by their respective district administrations.

The spokesman of government said that there is no risky situation in Karkhasa dam located in outskirt of Quetta.

To a query, Shahid Rind said that the relief and rehabilitation process was delayed in the areas affected during 2022, on which the Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti also expressed his anguish.

The MPAs Liaquat Lehri, Malik Naeem Bazai, Bakht Muhammad Kakar and Wali Muhammad Noorzai said that the relief activities are continued in different rain affected areas of Quetta.

They said that several areas of Quetta including its surrounding ones were affected due to the recent rains.

They said that the PDMA and district administration responded timely to the situation, and started rescue and relief activities in different areas.
