CM directs to evacuate thousands of acres of land of Livestock & other departments from occupants
Displeased with performance of Livestock Department:
Govt decides to offer small loans to young graduates for business; allocates Rs. 2 billion; seeks details of civil veterinary hospitals under use of influential persons
QUETTA (6AM Report): The Government of Balochistan has decided to offer small loans to the graduate youths for doing business in livestock and other sectors in the province.
Primarily, grant of Rs. 2 billion would be allocated for provision of loans to the youth at small level. This project would be implemented with assistance of the non-governmental organization, Akhuwwat.
The decision to this effect was made in a meeting of the Livestock and Dairy Development Department held with Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti in the chair here on Tuesday.
The Provincial Minister for Livestock and Dairy Development, Bakht Muhammad Kakar, Minister Finance, Mir Shoaib Nosherwani , Chief Secretary, Shakeel Qadir Khan, Secretary Livetock, Muhammad Tayyab Lehri, Secretary Finance, Babar Khan, and other concerned high ups were in attendance at the meeting.
The meeting decided to approve the mobile units for vaccination of cattle in all 36 districts of the province.
Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister expressed displeasure over illegal occupation of the thousands of acres of land of Livestock and other departments in the province.
He directed to the concerned authorities to evacuate thousands of acres of land of the Livestock and other departments from the illegal occupants.
He warned that action would be taken against the concerned deputy commissioners if the government land or property was occupied in their respective districts.
The Chief Minister also sought details of the civil veterinary hospitals which are under use of the influential persons.
He stressed those have illegally possessed the government land and properties must be made public.
Besides, he also directed to present facts and figures of all dispensaries of Livestock department with geo-tagging.
He said that objective behind bringing good governance in the province is to reach the benefits of development and good initiatives of the government.
He said that if improvement was brought in the livestock, agriculture and public sector development programme, then many things would be improved bringing marked improvement in quality of life of common men.
He regretfully pointed out that around 7,000 employees are employed in the Livestock department. The total budget of the department is around Rs. 6 billion, but still its overall performance is not satisfactory, he added.
The Chief Minister expressed concern over absence of many employees of the department from their duties. Most employees of the Livestock department don’t perform their duties on one hand, while it’s offices are non-functional on the other hand, he noted.
He also said that there is no mechanism in the department to review its performance.
He on the directed to run the government dairy and poultry farms running in loss through public-private partnership.
Earlier, during the briefing, it was informed that a large number of government buildings of the veterinary hospitals are under private use of the influential persons.
