ZHOB (By Rafiullah Mandokhail) : Oil and Gas Development Company Limited under its Corporate Social Responsibility programme and Al-Shifa Eye Trust Hospital organized a three-day free eye medical and surgical camp here in bordering town Zhob. Thousands of patients suffering from eye ailment benefited from the camp set up at the district headquarters civil hospital.
Assistant Commissioner Zaheer Ahmed Zehri flanked by the Regional Director OGDCL Ikramullah Kasi, camp supervisor Abdul Jabbar Memon, Aqeel Khoso and general secretary Para medical staff association Qasim Khan Mandokhail inaugurated the camp. Prominent ophthalmologists and surgeons participated in the three-day camp, where thousands of patients from far-off areas were examined, and received free medicines and glasses.
According to the OPD data, 2294 patients have been screened and provided them free medicines and glasses, while 220 cataract surgeries have also been carried out during the camp.
Regional Director OGDCL Ikramullah Kasi told journalist Rafiullah Mandokhail that OGDCL in collaboration with Al-Shifa Eye Trust Hospital organizes free eye camps in different remote parts of Balochistan, with the aim at providing free eye care services to the poor and needy patients belong to the marginalized communities.
“Besides free examination of patients in the camp, cataract surgeries are also performed. Those patients who cannot afford the medical expenses in adjacent districts have fully taken advantage of the free camp” he said.
Meanwhile, the patients and their attendants who availed the free services, expressed their satisfaction and appreciated the OGDCL’ s generous contribution under its CSR initiative for the underprivileged communities in Balochistan and thanked the management of OGDCL and Al- Shifa Eye Trust Hospital for their efforts on humanitarian grounds.
