QUETTA (APP): Secretary Health Balochistan Saleh Muhammad Baloch emphasized that efforts should be made to ensure the provision of facilities to maternal and new born in the province and no negligence would be tolerated in this regard. He said that the medical superintendents in the districts hospitals should ensure that women give birth in the presence of expert lady doctors, attendants and provide adequate pre and postnatal health care of the mother and new born.
Provincial Coordinator Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) Dr. Gul Sabeen Azam briefed the secretary about the program, said a news release issued here Sunday.
Deputy Director MNCH Dr. Samina Bugti, Finance Officer Kamil Baloch, Staff Officer Secretary Health Shaukat Baloch and IT Incharge Sikandar Zeb were present in the briefing.
Dr. Gul Sabeen Azam said that the MNCH program with the support of WHO was providing training to the lady doctors, midwives and LHVs working in labor rooms, RMNH centers and gynecological departments of different districts of Balochistan, in pregnancy, postnatal and newborn care.
He said that through the MNCH program, despite the limited resources, doctors, nurses, lady health workers, community midwives have been deployed in the maternity and child departments in the provincial, district hospitals.
The provision of ambulances, essential equipment, medicines have been ensured and steps have been taken to reduce and control maternal and infant mortality.
Secretary Health Balochistan Saleh Muhammad Baloch while appreciating the efforts and performance of Provincial Coordinator MNCH Dr. Gul Sabeen Azam, said that the provincial government was using all available resources to provide health facilities to the people.
