IHC says: Missing persons problem calls for political solution

ISLAMABAD (Online): Islamabad High Court (IHC) has remarked missing persons issue calls for political solution.

“Attorney General (AG) has assured court that every person who is alleged to be missing will reach his family at every cost. The missing persons issue warrants political solution, this was said by IHC in its written order  issued on Monday during hearing of missing Baloch students case.

As per order counsel Imaan Mazari has handed over list of 3 missing students to AG. We expect that on next hearing the court will be informed about these 3 missing persons.

It was said in 4-page order issued by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani that AG assured the court that every person about who it is alleged that he is missing will reach his family at every cost.

The order further said the AG told the court the talks have been held at high level always  to address missing persons issue.  It was said therein that the committee comprising ministers pertaining to enforced disappearances has worked out its recommendations.  The recommendations will be presented in the court after cabinet approval.

According to order AG is of the view missing persons problem calls for political solution. The old order pertaining to committee  comprising DGs of intelligence agencies on enforced disappearances  is being amended. ISI, MI and IB can make their second high level officers member of the committee.  The officials of FIA and CTD can be included.
