Performance of public sector companies be improved to increase revenue of provincial government: CM Bugti
Bugti orders right sizing in BEEF:
QUETTA (6 AM Report): The Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has emphasized on improving performance of the public sector companies, which have formed for income generation.
He said that the very objective behind formation of the companies is to increase the revenue of government.
However, performance of the companies made purely for increasing revenue, has not been much satisfactory so far.
Therefore, it is necessary to make their performance more effective by utilizing the professional human resource.
He directed to advertise the posts of new Chief Executive Officers of the companies at the earliest and include such persons in the boards who may become source of improving performance of the companies with a clear strategy having technical expertise.
The Chief Minister was chairing the meeting held to review performance of the public sector universities here on Wednesday.
Those who were present in the meeting were: Chief Secretary, Shakeel Qadir Khan, Secretary Mines and Minerals, Saidal Khan Luni, Secretary Energy, Dawood Khan Bazai, Secretary Industries, Durra Baloch, Chief Executive Officers of the public sector companies, and other concerned high ups.
The Chief Secretary briefed about overall performance of the public sector companies including Balochistan Mineral Resource Limited, Balochistan Mineral Exploration Limited, Balochistan Energy Company Limited, Balochistan Special Economic Zones Industrial Estates Development and Management Company and Balochistan Education Endowment Fund.
The meeting decided to reform the boards of public sector companies and appoint the Chief Executive Officers from the corporate sector, in order to improve their performance.
The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction over the performance of BEEF and ordered right sizing in it. Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that some companies are formed for the service delivery under the government patronage while some are established for the purpose of profit.
He stressed the need to improve performance of the companies which have been formed purely for revenue generation.
