QUETTA (6 AM Report): Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail has emphasized the growing importance of modern skills alongside academic degrees in today’s fast-paced world.
Speaking at Governor House Quetta during a briefing on Khuzdar Engineering University’s performance and future roadmap, the Governor urged the university to design comprehensive skill development programs aimed at equipping unemployed and less-educated youth with modern competencies.
He said such initiatives would boost the local economy and significantly reduce unemployment in the province. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Maqsood Ahmed and Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Sohrab Khan Bizenjo were also present at the briefing.
Governor Mandokhail stressed that university education and degrees would only be truly valuable if aligned with ground realities. “The time demands that we turn our youth from mere consumers into producers,” he remarked.
He also directed the university leadership to ensure merit, transparency, and quality in all academic and administrative affairs, which he said would enhance standards and benefit students more effectively.
Highlighting the need for stronger academia-industry linkages, the Governor added that the government alone cannot provide jobs to millions. “We must strengthen the private sector, while the government should facilitate businesses so they can play a key role in addressing unemployment,” he concluded.
