GWADAR (6 AM Report): A delegation of businessmen and representatives of the Pickup Union from Kantani Hor met with Assistant Commissioner Saad Kaleem Zafar, demanding the reopening of the area for commercial activities. The delegation was led by prominent political and social figure Hafeez Kiyazai.
The delegation highlighted that the closure of Kantani Hor has severely impacted local employment, as most residents lack alternative sources of income. “Nearly 90 percent of Gwadar’s business is linked to border trade, and the closure has worsened economic difficulties,” they said. They further noted that the shutdown has contributed to rising unemployment and affected law and order in the region.
Addressing the delegation, Assistant Commissioner Saad Kaleem Zafar assured them that the district administration is fully aware of public concerns and has escalated the matter to higher authorities. He acknowledged the complexities surrounding the Kantani Hor issue but emphasized that the administration is taking the matter seriously and a clear roadmap will be announced soon.
In addition, residents raised concerns regarding Chhoti and Pleri check posts, reporting that motorcycle traffic in the Sundi area is causing disturbances and being exploited by criminal elements. The Assistant Commissioner assured citizens that all issues have been conveyed to the Deputy Commissioner and comprehensive measures will be taken promptly to address them.
