QUETTA (PR): The Government of Balochistan has taken another major step toward providing citizens with modern and dignified travel facilities. Secretary Transport Balochistan, Muhammad Hayat Kakar, announced that following the success of the Green Bus Project, additional state-of-the-art buses have been procured.
Under the special directives of Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti, a total of 21 new buses will be introduced — 17 for Quetta and 4 for Turbat. Of these, five “Pink Buses” will be dedicated exclusively for women in Quetta, operating on fixed schedules, while the remaining 12 Green Buses will run across various city routes.
All buses have completed inspection and shipment formalities and will soon be operational on the roads of Quetta and Turbat. The project aims not only to provide comfortable, safe, and respectable travel but also to generate new employment opportunities.
According to the Transport Secretary, currently around 8,000–9,000 passengers use the city’s bus service daily. With the addition of the new fleet, this number is expected to rise to 40,000–50,000 passengers per day.
“The government’s objective is to ensure modern and quality transport facilities so that people can travel with comfort and dignity,” Kakar emphasized.
