Quetta, August 28 (6 AM Report): A delegation led by Provincial Adviser for Labour and Manpower, Sardar Baba Ghulam Rasool Khan Umrani, called on Provincial Irrigation Minister Mir Sadiq Umrani at his residence to discuss the worsening water crisis affecting farmers.
Speaking on the occasion, Adviser Umrani highlighted that the ongoing cultivation season has been severely impacted due to acute water shortages, creating major challenges for farmers. The delegation briefed the minister that wheat, vegetables, and other crops are facing drastic production losses, which has put not only farmers but also the regional economy under heavy pressure.
The delegation stressed the need for immediate activation of irrigation projects to provide relief to farmers and prevent their hard work from going to waste.
Responding to the concerns, Provincial Irrigation Minister Mir Sadiq Umrani assured that the government is fully committed to taking all possible steps to address the difficulties faced by farmers. He emphasized that Balochistan’s agricultural economy is the backbone of the province, and ensuring water supply remains a top government priority.
The meeting was also attended by Mir Dost Muhammad Satakzai, Mir Ali Hassan Manjho, Mama Shah Nawaz Khan Manjho, Raees Nazir Manjho, and other dignitaries, who shared their concerns and suggestions. They expressed hope that timely government measures would help resolve the crisis and stabilize the agricultural sector.
