Turbat (6 AM Report) : National Party President and former Chief Minister of Balochistan, Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch, has said that the suicide attack at the party’s rally in Hub was a deliberate conspiracy aimed at restricting political activities and cornering democratic forces.
Speaking to reporters, Dr. Malik recalled that this was not the first such incident, citing the earlier attack on Sardar Akhtar Mengal’s long march. He said political space is being squeezed, while anti-social elements are being allowed free rein to spread intolerance across society.
Paying tribute to the martyred party workers, Dr. Malik said the tragedy is a national loss that has plunged the entire political leadership and cadres into mourning. He announced that the National Party will observe three days of mourning and has postponed its September 14 rally in Hub, with a new date to be announced later.
He emphasized that all democratic forces believing in the supremacy of the Constitution and Parliament are being pushed into a dead end. “The killing of political workers is condemnable and intolerable, but such tactics cannot end political struggle or suppress ideological politics,” he said.
Dr. Malik called for a joint strategy against terrorism and political repression, reaffirming his support for the decisions of the All Parties Conference recently held in Quetta.
He reminded that the National Party has faced the toughest of times in the past, yet never abandoned its struggle or deviated from its ideological stance.
Senior leaders of the National Party including Kahda Akram Dashti, Central Finance Secretary Haji Fida Hussain Dashti, Lala Rasheed Dashti, Mulla Barkat Baloch, Haml Baloch, Dr. Muhammad Noor, Balkh Sher Qazi, Nazimuddin Advocate, Muhammad Jan Dashti, and District President Younus Javed Dashti, along with a large number of workers, were present on the occasion.
