Quetta (UNA): A minor financial dispute in Quetta escalated into an armed clash, leaving three people dead, including prominent trader Haji Ahmadullah Kakar, and three others seriously injured. The deceased also included Haji Baqi Khan and another individual, while Haji Baloch Khan Popalzai and his two sons sustained critical injuries.
The incident took place in a busy commercial area of the city when a heated exchange between the parties turned violent and led to indiscriminate gunfire. Eyewitnesses reported that the quarrel began as a verbal altercation but quickly spiraled into an armed confrontation, creating panic and forcing nearby shops to close.
Police and rescue teams rushed to the scene, shifting the injured to a hospital, where their condition remains critical. Law enforcement authorities confirmed that weapons and bullet casings were recovered from the spot, the area was sealed off, and forensic teams were called in. Raids are underway to arrest those responsible.
The killing of Haji Ahmadullah Kakar and Haji Baqi Khan has triggered outrage and grief among the trader community and tribal circles. Traders’ associations and civic bodies condemned the incident, warning that violent clashes over minor disputes are on the rise. They demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits and stronger security measures to safeguard the business community.
Police stated that post-mortem examinations have been completed and the bodies handed over to the families. Officials assured that investigations are underway from all angles and facts will be made public soon.
