Quetta, September 10: Quetta District secured a spot in the final of the 2nd All Pakistan Chief Minister Balochistan Gold Cup Cricket Tournament 2025 after defeating Quetta Region by five wickets in a nail-biting floodlights encounter.
The match, organized under the patronage of the Balochistan Sports Department and supervised by the Quetta Region Cricket Association, saw Quetta Region winning the toss and opting to bat first. They posted 136 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Waqar top-scored with a solid 37, while Nasrullah contributed 29 and Abdul Manan added 25 runs.
For Quetta District, Zeeshan and Muhammad Umar bowled impressively, taking three wickets each, while Abdul Ghaffar chipped in with one wicket.
In reply, Quetta District chased down the target in the final over, finishing at 137/5. Jahangir Shah anchored the innings with a resilient 37, while Abdul Ghaffar’s quick-fire 16 runs, including two sixes and a boundary, proved decisive in the closing stages.
Recognizing their match-winning performances, team officials awarded cash prizes of Rs. 20,000 each to Jahangir Shah and Abdul Ghaffar. The spectators at Bugti Stadium applauded Quetta District’s victory, hailing their spirited performance and entry into the final.
The remaining matches of the tournament are set to continue at Bugti Stadium with high expectations of more thrilling encounters.
