NASEERABAD (6 AM Report): Superintending Engineer Irrigation Circle, Ghulam Sarwar Bangalzai, visited Guddu Barrage to review the flood situation and water discharge in detail. During the visit, he thoroughly inspected the flow of water from the barrage and received a comprehensive briefing from officials on its operations.
According to the department, around 450,000 cusecs of water is currently passing through Guddu Barrage, which will flow towards the sea via Kotri. Bangalzai stated that close coordination is being maintained with the Sindh Government to monitor the situation, while the Balochistan Irrigation Department has deployed a dedicated unit at Guddu Barrage to assess flood conditions daily and compile reports.
A departmental spokesperson said that medium-level floods are passing through Guddu and Sukkur barrages. To ensure public safety, continuous coordination with the Sindh Government is in place.
The Irrigation Department reassured the people of Naseerabad that all staff are actively performing their duties, keeping round-the-clock monitoring of the flood situation, and field teams are on full alert. Officials emphasized that, by the grace of Allah, the situation is fully under control, expressing hope that residents of Sindh and Balochistan, particularly Naseerabad, will remain safe in the coming days.
The department confirmed that all officers’ and staff’s leave has been canceled, while superintending engineers, executive engineers, chief engineers, and the provincial irrigation secretary remain in constant contact. Provincial Irrigation Minister Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani is personally monitoring the situation.
On the occasion, Sub-Divisional Officer Haji Mumtaz Ahmed Soomro also briefed about water discharge at Guddu Barrage and the provision of irrigation water in the Pat Feeder Canal.
