QUETTA (6 AM Report): Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has vowed that the province will never surrender before terrorists, declaring terrorism a “cancer” that has corrupted the minds of the youth. Addressing the provincial assembly session on the Levies Bill, Bugti stressed that the government would launch decisive actions to tighten the noose around terrorists, making “every inch of Balochistan unbearable for them.”
He assured that the proposed Anti-Terrorism Law would not apply to ordinary citizens and reaffirmed that the government’s stance had already been conveyed to the opposition. “If the opposition wants to debate our decisions, we are ready. The doors of dialogue will always remain open,” he said.
Bugti highlighted that France changed its laws within a single day after a terrorist attack, while in Balochistan, despite the tragic 2016 lawyers’ massacre and the arrest of mastermind Saeed Badini, a timely trial never took place. “Ask those who carried the bodies how painful it was. No one is willing to testify against terrorists,” he remarked.
He announced that the new legislation would also address the missing persons’ issue permanently. “From now on, if someone is arrested, their family will be notified immediately. We want to bury this issue once and for all,” he added.
The chief minister criticized JI leader Maulana Hidayat ur Rehman for opposing the bill, saying his own area had witnessed repeated brutal killings of laborers. “Instead of opposing, he should support strengthening Levies and other forces to counter terrorism,” Bugti said.
Reiterating the government’s priorities, he said: “Our manifesto is to end terrorism, establish peace, and eradicate unemployment.
The PPP wants stability in the country, and we will never bow before terrorists. Without parliamentary leadership, this war cannot be won.”
Bugti once again extended a hand to the opposition, urging them to give constructive suggestions for resolving Balochistan’s challenges. “Our intentions are clean. We want to work together for the province’s development, but it is up to the opposition whether they play their role positively or not,” he said.
