DUKI (6 AM Report): Deputy Commissioner Duki, Muhammad Naeem Khan, has urged local body representatives to prioritize public service and play the role of a bridge between the government and the people. He was addressing an introductory meeting with chairmen and vice chairmen of 19 union councils of the district. EDO Local Government Razgul Tareen was also present on the occasion.
During the meeting, representatives highlighted various issues faced by their respective areas. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that local body representatives should focus not only on development projects but also on broader social services to provide real relief to the people.
He instructed them to regularly visit schools and health centers, report absentee teachers and staff for strict disciplinary action, and monitor the performance of those on duty. He also stressed the need to curb profiteering and overcharging by identifying violators for immediate action.
Highlighting social responsibilities, DC Naeem Khan said local representatives must play an active role in the anti-polio vaccination campaign and other community welfare initiatives. He added that the district administration alone cannot solve all issues without the cooperation of elected representatives and the public.
Warning against illicit practices, the Deputy Commissioner declared that poppy cultivation is a serious crime. Landowners involved will face strict action, including registration of FIRs, blocking of identity cards, and confiscation of land by the state. He appealed to local leaders to support the administration in eradicating this menace and raise awareness to make Duki district free of drugs and other social evils.
