QUETTA (6 AM Report): Dr. Rabba Khan Belidi, Provincial Minister for Women’s Development, announced that the Balochistan government has established Legal Aid Desks and Gender Desks across the province to ensure protection of women’s rights, access to justice, and economic empowerment. She emphasized that sustainable development cannot be achieved without integrating women into the mainstream.
Dr. Belidi made these remarks during a meeting with UN Women Balochistan head Ayesha Wadood and Dawood Nangial, where they discussed the challenges faced by women in the province, ongoing initiatives, and potential future collaborations.
Highlighting the government’s efforts, Dr. Belidi said the Women Economic Empowerment Fund has been created to provide skilled women with interest-free loans and business facilities, enabling them to earn a dignified livelihood. She further noted that shelter homes and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women Centers are actively supporting women affected by violence.
The minister also underlined the significance of the recently formulated Gender Equality and Women Empowerment Policy, aimed at ensuring women’s participation in political, economic, and social decision-making. Special focus is being given to providing women with equal opportunities in governance, education, health, water, and other essential sectors. Vocational training centers, skill development programs, and digital technology training are part of these efforts to enhance women’s capabilities.
Ayesha Wadood and Dawood Nangial appreciated the government’s initiatives and pledged continued collaboration to promote women’s development, gender equality, and protection in Balochistan. Dr. Belidi concluded by stressing that stronger cooperation between the provincial government and international organizations will help women in Balochistan move toward a safer, empowered, and prosperous future.
