Quetta ( By Naseer Shahwani) , August 22 –Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Quetta has arrested a close associate of Dr. Usman Qazi, a key figure in the banned outfit Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), a private TV channel reported on Thursday.
The suspect, identified as Mir Khan Lehri, is said to be a law graduate from the International Islamic University, Islamabad. According to intelligence sources, Lehri was serving as a prosecutor inspector in Balochistan and allegedly involved in facilitating terrorist activities while drawing a salary from the state.
Despite being part of the government system, he reportedly remained active in anti-state operations and is believed to have played a role in multiple attacks, aiding the BLA network under the guise of official responsibilities.
CTD officials confirmed that the suspect has been taken into custody, and interrogations are underway. Preliminary investigations suggest his involvement in over a dozen incidents, though authorities have not yet released further details.
The arrest raises fresh concerns over insider threats and the infiltration of banned outfits into state institutions. Officials say more arrests may follow as the investigation deepens.
