QUETTA (UNA): The Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party (PKNAP) has announced a major protest demonstration and public rally in Quetta on September 17, 2025 (Wednesday), against rising inflation, injustices, and what it called “excesses by state institutions.”
The announcement was made by PKNAP’s provincial president, Nasrullah Zayrai, while chairing a joint meeting of the party’s district and provincial executive at the central secretariat. The session was attended by central senior secretary Syed Qadir Agha Advocate, provincial secretary Faqir Khushhal Kasi, deputy secretaries Nida Singer, Rehmatullah Sabir, Suleman Bazai, Baz Muhammad Pashtun, and other leaders.
Zayrai said the people of Quetta and surrounding areas were facing severe hardships due to prolonged electricity and gas load-shedding, corruption, inflation, poor sanitation, traffic congestion, and rising crime. He alleged that WAPDA officials were seizing citizens’ meters, while gas outages had made daily life unbearable for households. “Police and security forces’ attitude towards the public has become intolerable,” he added.
Criticizing the city’s sanitation condition, he said Quetta had turned into “heaps of garbage,” while traffic police were depriving pushcart vendors and daily wage earners of their livelihoods. He further alleged that at the Baleli Customs Checkpost, drivers were illegally stopped for bribes, causing immense difficulties for patients and commuters.
On inflation, Zayrai pointed out that flour prices had surged by 30 percent in just two months, while price control committees were taking only “cosmetic measures.” He strongly condemned the crackdown on Afghan refugees, forced deportations, and closure of educational institutions, terming them violations of human rights.
The PKNAP leader said all party units in Quetta district had been instructed to ensure maximum participation in the protest. He appealed to citizens, students, and workers to join the procession from the party’s central secretariat to the grand public rally at Bacha Khan Chowk on September 17.
