Quetta (6 AM Report): Governor of Balochistan, Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, has highlighted the critical importance of primary education in shaping the educational and economic future of the province. Speaking at a high-profile educational program held at BUITEMS University — organized in collaboration with UNICEF and the Government of Norway — the Governor called for focused attention on early education and appealed to the international community for strategic support.
“Primary education is the backbone of any country’s educational system. It lays the foundation for all future academic success,” said Governor Mandokhail while addressing a large gathering of educators, students, and education experts. He stressed that boosting literacy from the ground up could significantly improve higher education enrollment and expand employment opportunities across the province.
The event was attended by UNICEF’s Provincial Head Maryam Darwish, BUITEMS Vice-Chancellor Dr. Khalid Hafeez, University of Balochistan VC Dr. Zahoor Bazai, BUITEMS Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr. Mairwase Khan Kasi, and Ploosha Jalalzai, along with numerous students and faculty members.
Governor Mandokhail expressed concern over the alarming state of primary education in Balochistan, revealing that nearly 2.96 million children are currently out of school, depriving a significant portion of the population of their basic right to education. He pointed out that rural schools are severely lacking in infrastructure, clean drinking water, electricity, and sanitation, which deters parents from sending their children to school.
“Our population is small and scattered, making it incredibly difficult to deliver essential services to every doorstep,” the Governor said. “To transform the vision of a literate and developed Balochistan into reality, we urgently require guidance and cooperation from developed nations and international institutions.”
He urged national and global stakeholders to acknowledge that every child deserves access to quality learning opportunities. “No child in Balochistan should be left behind,” he asserted. “Let us join hands to equip our children with quality education and modern skills to light the way for a brighter future.”
The ceremony concluded with Governor Mandokhail distributing certificates and gifts among students.
