QUETTA (6 AM Report): Commissioner Quetta Division Shahzeb Khan Kakar chaired a meeting to review the progress and challenges of the Eastern Bypass expansion project. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Quetta Capt (R) Mehrullah Badini, Divisional Director Development Quetta Division Zahoor Ahmed, NHA Director Coordination Mir Asif, and Resident Director Shafqat Tariq.
Speaking at the meeting, the Commissioner said the expansion of the Eastern Bypass is a vital public welfare project aimed at reducing traffic congestion and ensuring smooth flow of vehicles. He directed that work speed be further increased to complete the project at the earliest.
Kakar also instructed authorities to carry out regular water sprinkling during construction to minimize dust-related problems for residents, and to ensure proper arrangements for alternative routes to facilitate commuters.
Representatives of the National Highway Authority (NHA) informed the meeting that the project will be completed by December 31, with necessary funds already released. They added that construction of two flyovers is part of the plan, with practical work set to begin soon, while the ongoing bridge works will also be completed at the earliest.
The Commissioner emphasized that the timely completion of the project would be a major relief for Quetta residents, providing improved travel facilities and reducing pressure on the city’s roads. He urged all concerned departments to work in close coordination and fulfill their responsibilities without delay.
