QUETTA (6 AM Report): Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail has said that Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University, the province’s only institution dedicated to higher education for women, has witnessed remarkable progress within a year, overcoming long-standing hurdles and fostering a vibrant academic environment.
Speaking during his visit to the university on Wednesday, the Governor noted that for the first time after years of crisis, student enrollment has increased significantly, reflecting renewed public trust. “Today, we have inaugurated a girls’ hostel for 200 students inside the university campus — another milestone achievement,” he said. He expressed confidence that with continued dedication from the administration and faculty, the university would soon rank among Pakistan’s top institutions.
Governor Mandokhail was accompanied by his Principal Secretary, Kaleemullah Babar, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Rubina Mushtaq, and Pro-Vice Chancellor. He assured that, along with improving academic quality, steps were being taken to enhance campus security to ensure both students and their parents feel fully satisfied. “Thanks to our support and the hard work of the Vice Chancellor’s team, the university environment has improved to the point that we would proudly send our own daughters to study here,” he remarked.
The Governor stressed that the progress achieved so far must be safeguarded and further strengthened.
He announced that the government would provide modern equipment and chemicals for all science laboratories to facilitate student learning, adding that just as salary issues were resolved, other faculty and institutional needs would also be addressed.
He urged philanthropists in the province to contribute to the university’s growth and extend support to deserving students. He also directed the Vice Chancellor to cut unnecessary expenditures and appreciated the launch of the self-finance scheme.
Earlier, the Governor inspected all science laboratories individually and handed over a vehicle to the university provided under the Korean Nutrition Project.
